In so many of His interactions with people, Jesus used questions. But there was only ever one time that He questioned His heavenly Father. And it was as He hung on the cross.

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

Note that at the heart of Jesus’ cry of anguish is the question, “Why?”

Why was the Father allowing His Son to go through such torment? Why was Jesus deserted and abandoned? Why was the savior so utterly forsaken?

The answer… for you.

It’s awe-inspiring and humbling. God allowed Jesus, the innocent one, to be punished, cut off, rejected, and forsaken—so that you and I don’t have to be.

You’ll discover as you read the pages of this newsletter, Jesus’ last words from the cross overflow with these deep and transformative truths. That’s why I’d love to send you a copy of my teaching series Famous Last Words—it’s my way of thanking you for your partnership this month.

It’s so wonderful to think that through your support, men and women around the world are also discovering the life-changing power of God’s Word. And for that, I’m so thankful!
