“Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of the Father.”
- MATTHEW 13:43a
In the parable of the wheat and the tares, a man sows wheat in his field. That very night, an enemy comes to his field and sows tares, which is a counterfeit wheat. Wheat and tares are almost identical until harvest time nears, when the head of the wheat, heavy with grain, bows downward, and the fruitless tares remain straight and tall. How can we tell whether we are wheat or tares in God’s field – whether we are the real deal or fake? First, we must ask, “Is Jesus ruling and reigning as King in my life?” “Is my life bowed before God, heavy with the fruit He planted me to bear in His name?” If we can answer “Yes,” then at the time of harvest, Jesus says we will shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of our Heavenly Father.
