“When you are in trouble, call out to me. I will answer and be there to protect and honor you.” - PSALM 91:15
What do we do in an emergency? We call 9-1-1, right? Remembering 9-1-1 also gives us an easy way to recall two important verses in times of distress. Go first to PSALM 91:1, which says “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” We worship when we confess our sin, and when we turn away from our sin. We worship when we understand that God in Jesus Christ provided the substitute for you and me on the Cross.
Now go to PSALM 9:11, “Sing praises to the Lord who dwells in Zion, declare among the people His deeds.” God assures us that He does not forget the cry of the afflicted. So, in times of trouble, PSALM 91:1 calls us to worship God, and PSALM 9:11 reminds us that God has liberated us and set us free.
