“Then the angel of the Lord put out the end of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and the unleavened bread; and fire sprang up from the rock and consumed the meat and the bread.” - JUDGES 6:21
In the story of Gideon, you will recall that Gideon was hiding from the Midianites to avoid having his crops seized by them when an angel of the Lord appeared to him and called him a “valiant warrior.” At that moment, Gideon felt anything but valiant! But – and this is a principle we need to burn into our minds and hearts – God sees things in people that we can’t see. He sees the right stuff in a lot of us, and He saw that in Gideon. Read the account carefully, and you’ll see that there is a turning point when Gideon asked the angel to wait while he prepared an offering for the Lord.
Gideon offered something that was precious to him as a sacrifice, and as an act of worship to this divine guest. And Gideon’s heart began to change as he understood that he was in the presence of the Living God. So, when God gives you what you feel is an impossible assignment, remember Gideon, and know that God has seen in you something that he will ignite if you simply trust Him.
