“But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, that, just as it is written, ‘Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.’” - 1 CORINTHIANS 1:30-31
God selects the foolish, the disenfranchised, the nobodies – people like you and like me. And we simply respond, we simply believe. There is no reason for us to boast, for God has done it all.
But because of God’s grace, I recognize that even though I am plain vanilla, God has given me His wisdom. That means the light has been turned on in my heart and I know God, and I know something of His glory. I know where I came from, what I am doing here, and where I am going. And therefore, I can boast in the Lord and in what He has accomplished – and will accomplish – in sinners like me. He takes plain vanilla and adds His special seasoning – and we are no longer vanilla – we become pralines and cream!
