In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. - Romans 8:26

Let’s face it, we don’t know how to pray as we should. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit helps in our weakness, making intercession for us with groanings too deep for words. Simply put, for those of us in Christ, the Holy Spirit rolls up His sleeves and gets to work helping us.

The Greek word translated “helps” means to come from the other side in order to take on our burdens and move obstacles. When we struggle to pray, or don’t even know where to begin, the Holy Spirit “helps” – He comes over to our side and prays for us the prayer that we would pray if we knew everything God knows. Did you get that? The Holy Spirit takes our mumbling, groaning prayers, makes them perfect and gives them wings to the Father through Christ. So next time you pray, know that you have a Helper on your side with His sleeves rolled up ready to go to work for you.
