“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.” - Isaiah 43:2
We know from Psalm 137 that during the Babylon captivity, Israel lost its song. They hung their harps in the willows and wept over the memories of their homes and homeland. For believers today, our Babylon is a fallen world system and culture that can steal our peace and dislodge those things we hold dear and sacred. When this happens, God promises to be with us. Our scripture assures us there is no ocean He cannot divide, no rivers He cannot restrain, and no fire He cannot extinguish. When we see how great our God is and remember His love, provision, and protection for His children … well, let’s just say – it will put the music back in our hearts.
