“But He answered and said, ‘It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’” - Matthew 4:4
Peanuts cartoons almost always provide valuable insights for us. Here’s an example. One rainy day Lucy and Linus were looking out the window. And Lucy, always emotional, said, “I sure hope it doesn’t keep raining until the whole world is flooded.” Linus replied, “Don’t worry about that Lucy. God promised He would not destroy the world by a flood ever again, and He put a rainbow in the sky so we would remember that.” Lucy said, “Wow, that sure takes a load off my mind.” And Linus replied, “Sound theology has a way of doing that.”
And it does! What people might think or say about God doesn’t really matter. What matters is whether you have a biblical view of the Almighty, and that is always sound theology. How do we develop this biblical understanding of God? Through reading His Word – daily, faithfully, attentively. Let me encourage you to do just that this year.
