"He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the Lord." - Psalm 40:2-3
According to our scripture, God lifts us out of the mire and puts us in the choir! Music flows through the Word of God. The book of Psalms is a hymnbook! Hezekiah, Josiah, and Nehemiah were reformers who built again the choirs of Israel and Judah.
Throughout church history, men like Martin Luther and John and Charles Wesley filled churches with the Lord’s songs. In fact, Charles Wesley composed more than sixty-five-hundred hymns and believed something was wrong with his spiritual life on the days he did not write a song of praise. Churches that are alive and growing are marked by their singing. That’s true of believers, too. So ask God to put a new song in your heart and then set your heart free to sing to the Lord! He’s waiting to hear from you as He has heard from believers throughout history.
