"So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him." - Luke 15:20
Earlier this year, Prince Harry announced that he and his wife, Meghan, were abdicating their royal roles and responsibilities to live more independently. I could not help but look at the similarity between this young prince and the young prodigal in Jesus’s famous parable. The prodigal son also wanted a life free from rules and responsibilities, yet with all of his inheritance. I have no idea how the royal family might receive Prince Harry should he return home, but I do know how the Father received the prodigal and how He receives you and me when we return home: He runs to meet us!
By the way, our verse is the only place in the Bible we see God running! Read the entire Parable of the Prodigal Son and discover this truth: God is always looking for His children who are lost and away from home!
