Trombone maturity

March 20, 2020
"Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude." - COLOSSIANS 2:6-7

A man wanting to play in his town’s band went to a music teacher. “How fast could I learn to play the trombone?” The teacher said, “Well, I can teach anybody to play any instrument in 5 years.” The man replied, “Five years?!? I’m 50 years old… that means I’ll be 55 by the time I can play!” The music teacher asked, “How old will you be in five years if you don’t learn how to play the trombone?”

We tend to like maturity loud and quick, when in reality, it usually comes, quiet and slow. But trust me, the process is worth every minute, especially when it comes to our spiritual maturity. So let’s carve out time every day to “practice the trombone.” Read the Bible, pray, journal, share our faith… focus our time and influence on things that matter to God and things that mature us.
