Fasten Your Seatbelt
"O taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!"Psalms 34:8
A man had a friend who refused to fasten his seatbelt no matter how often he was asked. Then one day when the man got in the car with his friend, he immediately fastened his seatbelt. The man asked, “What happened?” And the friend replied, “I have a good friend who was in an accident recently and he was thrown through the windshield and had to have 200 stitches. So now I fasten my seatbelt.” The man asked, “Didn’t you know that 75% of those in an accident have a better chance of survival if they are wearing a seatbelt?” “Yes, I knew that,” he replied. “Didn’t you know the law requires you to wear a seatbelt?” “Yes, I knew that too.” “So, what made the difference?” The friend replied, “Experience. I saw what happens when you don’t wear one.”
That’s true for us, too. The Bible gives us information, but we need the Holy Spirit to take that information and plant it in our hearts where it can be applied to our lives. A personal encounter with God makes all the difference. Taste and see.
