“See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all men.”1 Thessalonians 5:11
A mother heard her daughter crying and ran in to see that her young son Henry had grabbed the girl’s hair and was pulling it. She removed the boy’s hand and told her daughter, “He doesn’t realize how much that hurt.” The mother left the room, and in a few minutes she heard the little boy crying. When she walked into the room, the daughter said: “Now He knows!”
Vengeance – an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. That is how our world operates. But when we come to Christ, the Holy Spirit resides in us and gives us the capacity to love, and that love can flow out of us to enable us to love our neighbor. An old chorus got it right: “They will know we are Christians by our love.”
