The Sights and Sounds of Christmas
"But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord…'"Luke 2:10-11
Bright lights, sounds of singing and laughter, delicious aromas from the kitchen, hugs from family and friends … Nothing engages our senses like Christmas. Consider the very first Christmas. Shepherds were startled by an angel and the surrounding flash of God’s glory. Wise men followed a bright star. A multitude of heavenly hosts permeated the night sky with sounds of praise to God. And the smell of hay and animals filled the stable’s air, as Mary held the Holy Infant in her arms. God was revealing Himself to our hearts and senses in a simple yet profound way as He presented us with the gift of His Son.
So take time this very day to go back to that holy night in Bethlehem, and absorb the sights, the sounds, the smells, the touch … the absolute wonder of it all. You will come away amazed and better yet … changed!
