A Different Meaning

"Anything I wanted, I would take. I denied myself no pleasure. I even found great pleasure in hard work, a reward for all my labors. But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless—like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere."Ecclesiastes 2:10-11
In ancient times, a garden was a walled-in place, protected from wild plant growth and intruders. Our hearts are like a garden. Unfortunately, many people have an “anything goes” philosophy toward life and tear down the protective walls to give their heart whatever pleasure it wants. But if we are to enjoy the peace of God that fills our heart’s garden, we must have clearly defined spiritual and moral limits that serve as walls, or boundaries. Without this protection, our hearts will become a tangled mess.
So guard your heart by asking God to help you establish good boundaries, or else you may discover your garden has become an untamed jungle.
