"And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."Matthew 16:18
Peter understood that Jesus was indeed the son of the living God when Jesus asked him, “who do you say that I am?” Jesus then goes on to say to him, “I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church…”
What rock? Not Peter himself but on his profession of faith. Jesus said, “On that … I will build My church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.”
Over two thousand years later, this word continues to be true for you and for me. Regardless of how many attacks come against our faith or how inadequate we might feel when standing up against them we, His church, will overcome just as He promised if we stand on the firm foundation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
