Bedstead heart
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." - JOHN 16:33
The bedstead heart is like the old iron beds, firm on both ends, but saggy in the middle. The person with bedstead heart is firm in receiving Christ as Savior. On the other end, he’s firm too, confident he will go to Heaven when he dies. But in the middle Mr. Bedstead Heart sags.
He sings “Victory in Jesus,” but his personal scorecard shows mostly defeats. He "amens" when the preacher talks about “peace that passes understanding,” but experiences internal Armageddon.
The mature spiritual heart is firm throughout. It is solid in its commitment to Christ and confident of eternity with Him. And in the middle, in this life, the individual is courageous, stable, steady and firm. He or she knows that Christ overcame the world, that Christ is enthroned upon their hearts firmly and that they will not sag under the weight of daily living!
