Behind closed doors

November 06, 2018
Deep calls to deep at the sound of Thy waterfalls … And after He had sent the multitudes away, He went up to the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone. PSALM 42:7; MATTHEW 14:23

The greatest transactions between an individual human heart and the heart of God occur behind closed doors. Deep-to-deep transactions happen when you hide God’s word in your heart. Draw aside to your “mountain,” and get on your face before God. Then, what you hear in the backroom you confirm in the front room.

Other voices find a platform in the flesh, and try to distort The Voice of the Deep. Now we see through a glass, darkly, and now we also hear with flesh-clogged ears. What we hear in the backroom is filtered in two ways. First, through the sieve of Scripture. All heard in subjectivity must measure to the standard of objectivity. Second, the transactions of the backroom should be assessed by wise and mature followers of Christ who know us in the community of faith.

Once you transact the deep-to-deep connection of the backroom, confirm what you’ve heard in the front room and work it out in the whole “house” of your world!

TODAY’S FOCUS
Designate a day of silence, when you will spend significant time in quietness, meditating on God’s word, praying and listening.
