Burn Out

January 21, 2019
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. -Romans 12:11-13

Far too many people live life in a rut. I think of a rut as a grave with both ends knocked out. People in ruts settle for a drab existence and never attempt to do anything new and exciting. Resigned to a life of mere existence, they put a “Do Not Disturb” sign on their lives and collect dust until they finally rust out. I don’t know about you, but I would rather burn out than rust out.

So, if you find yourself in a rut, remember this: The Lord is always looking for believers to fill the job description in today’s scripture. Nothing will keep you passionate about life more than staying on fire for God and your relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. Don’t rust out – burn out!
