God loves you this much

“We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in Him.” - 1 John 4:16
When our children and grandchildren were small, I liked to play a fun game with them. We would stretch out our arms as wide as we could, and say, “I love you THIS much,” and see who was able to love the most!
On the day we called Good Friday, Roman soldiers crucified Jesus by stretching his arms as wide as they could and nailing them to a cross. So, every time you see a cross, I want you to remember that is God with His arms stretched wide, saying to you, “This is how much I love you!”
Remember that the birth of Jesus, which we celebrate at Christmas, is given its fullest meaning at the Cross where he gave His life on our behalf. What a priceless gift! Jesus shed His blood so that your life might be cleansed. God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die for us. And this perfect gift is available to everyone who receives Him.
