Hearts full of questions

July 23, 2018
The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things. - PROVERBS 15:28

There are varieties of questions. Some are innocent, seeking information. Others are rhetorical, designed to make a point. Then there are questions whose intent it is to snare and trap. Good people ask good questions for good reasons. Evil people use questions to cast doubt and undermine.

Philosophers, from good and bad hearts, ask big questions, like, “If God is good how can there be pain?” This is like a four-year old asking why Mommy and Daddy just stand by while a doctor stings her rump with a needle. The parent has the big picture the child’s heart cannot yet grasp. The child may be confused momentarily but knows deep inside her Mommy still loves her.

Unanswered questions do not negate God or His love. They simply mean the heart does not yet have the capacity to understand the answers. One should never abandon faith simply because all the heart’s questions cannot be answered.

TODAY’S FOCUS
It’s time to turn over your unanswered questions to God. Don’t let them be a barrier to trusting Him. Rest in the promise that you will know even as you are known.
