"\"I can't see Jesus\""
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. - HEBREWS 12:1-2
A small country church had a portrait of Jesus behind its pulpit. One Sunday the church had a guest speaker who was considerably taller than the pastor. While he was speaking, a little girl on the front row looked at her mother and whispered, “Where’s the man who usually talks? This one is too big. I can’t see Jesus.” What keeps us from seeing Jesus?
Our scripture states that the burdens of life and the sins that trip us up can become so overwhelming they can hide Jesus. So what can we do? Exactly what our scripture urges us to do. We must keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. His love demonstrated on the Cross and His power revealed in the resurrection and ascension tower above everything and everyone we encounter in this world. With such an attitude of faith, nothing can hide Jesus from our sight.
