Impossible health

June 06, 2018
"Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." And when the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, "Then who can be saved?" And looking upon them Jesus said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." - MATTHEW 19:24-26

The story goes that when President Eisenhower suffered a heart attack reporters asked former President Harry S Truman if a person with a bad heart was healthy enough to be President. Truman is said to have replied, “No man alive is healthy enough to be President of the United States!” Truman could just as well have been speaking of the requirements of being the child of God.

The disciples had just watched a fabulously wealthy young man turn away from Christ because he was unwilling to pay the price of following the Lord. Jesus tells His disciples that the bar is impossibly high to qualify to be God’s child. “Then who can make it?” they fret. This is why the Gospel is Good news. To make a desperately wicked heart acceptable to God, to form a new person qualified for the Kingdom is impossible for man—even at His most religious. But God specializes in the impossible.

You and I are not healthy enough for Heaven, but that’s no problem for God, Who infuses us with the spiritual health of the only begotten Son!
