“… if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.” - MATTHEW 17:20
Lee Strobel reminds us that in 1st century Israel, a great teacher able to solve problems with Scripture was considered an “uprooter,” or “pulverizer” of mountains. “Moving” a mountain symbolized getting rid of a difficulty or obstacle. A mustard seed, says Strobel, is 39/1000th of an inch across, but produces a fast-growing plant that can reach 12 feet in one season.
God’s promise is that Christ’s faith, operating in you and me, is as vital as that mustard plant. It shoves aside doubts, difficulties, obstacles and barriers to the accomplishment of the will of God in our lives.
