Pursued heart

October 13, 2018
This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. - 1 TIMOTHY 2:3-4

Romance gets serious when you move from “dating” to “courting,” the pursuit of the heart of the beloved. God courts us. He pursues our hearts. God uses all sorts of means of pursuit. Sometimes, heartbreak leads us to give our broken heart to Him for healing.

In my years of experience as a pastor, I’ve concluded that many people come to God because they get the stuffing knocked out of them. A pro football player called me, desperate. He had been living a godless life. “Would you come pray for me?” he asked. No one would have believed this athlete would have called out to a pastor for help. “Please come lay hands on my knee!” he begged. “If the Lord will heal my knee and let me run again, I’ll get my act together!” God’s pursuit of our hearts brings us to our knees so that we really can learn to run with Him, not against Him.

TODAY’S FOCUS
Look over your shoulder, and see that it’s not an enemy pursuing you, but the One who loves you above all.
