The sluggard’s heart

Laziness is not just about how hard you work, but what you’re willing to work at. A craving is a deep, heart-felt desire. Ironically, a sluggard longs for some good thing with his or her whole heart, but the heart is too lazy to do anything about obtaining it!

A man sought counsel about how to attract women. The adviser told him to lose 40 pounds and improve his hygiene. The man kept eating and neglecting his appearance. He enjoyed his self-pity and was too lazy to discipline himself.

Many people work hard at making a living, but not on how to live. A sluggard will work feverishly at getting married, but not making a marriage. He or she will do all necessary to have children, but not work hard on parenting. The lazy person will strive to be popular, but won’t work on healthy relationships..

The diligent heart, however, is willing to work for the things it earnestly desires. Rather than merely wishing, such a person takes action. While the sluggard bemoans unfulfilled wishes and poverty, the diligent celebrates success and prosperity.
