Many people prefer an indifferent God. They have concluded wrongly that God’s greatest delight is to condemn them. The New Age Movement of the late 20th century taught that people could access this impersonal “force” through channeling, meditation, crystals, and other means. Eastern mysticism—a continuation of ancient Gnosticism—tries to help people get positioned properly in relation to the spiritual dimension. The Bible gives us the true picture: God loves, He cares, and He engages with us, not to condemn us but to save us.
