True Beauty

March 08, 2018
Your adornment must not be merely external — braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.  -1 Peter 3:3-4
Two women look in the mirror. One sees a sagging chin, and lines around her mouth. The other spies wrinkles circling her eyes, and droopy lids. Both decide to have a makeover. The first woman, wealthy, has no problem plopping down the $75,000 tab. The other woman, poor, has to remain—to her mind, at least—ugly.

You might not be able to do anything about your physical features, but there’s beauty available for every female, and handsomeness for every man.
Inner beauty radiates into external beauty. Inner beauty is heart-beauty, that of a “gentle and quiet spirit.” “Leaves me out,” you may think, because your personality is expressive, assertive and extroverted. But the person with a gentle and quiet spirit is one who has dignity, who is not boisterous in her assertiveness or crass in her expressions.

In today’s parlance, we call this “class.” It’s a beauty of “imperishable quality.” Age doesn’t mar it. In fact, such beauty is enhanced by the years. Go for this makeover!

TODAY’S FOCUS
Pray for the Holy Spirit to “beautify” your interior, and radiate it to and through your exterior.
