What Touches the Heart

March 01, 2018
Therefore, when Mary came where Jesus was, she saw Him, and fell at His feet, saying to Him, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died." When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled, and said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to Him, "Lord, come and see." Jesus wept.  -John 11:32-35
Nothing reveals a person’s true character as much as that which touches their heart.

David Robinson, another great basketballer, is noted for his commitment to Christ. “A couple of things have touched our hearts as we’ve grown as a family,” Robinson says of himself, his wife and three children. Those concerns include parents trying to feed their children and education of disadvantaged kids. What touches the heart results in action, so the David Robinson Foundation channels hefty chunks of his huge paychecks into poverty-scarred communities.

Even though Jesus knew He had power to raise Lazarus from the dead, His compassionate character is revealed in His tears over Mary’s pain. Consider what really touches your heart and you will know yourself truly.

TODAY’S FOCUS
Dare to pray as did Bob Pierce, founder of World Vision: “Let my heart be broken with the things that break God’s heart.”
