3 Reasons Your Marriage is Everybody’s Business

3-reasons-your-marriage-is-everybody-business

Ever heard someone say, “My marriage is nobody else’s business”? Well, they are wrong. Your marriage, my marriage, and their marriage are everybody’s business.

Here are three reasons…

Your marriage is your children’s business.

When children are young, they do what we ask of them. But when they grow up, they start doing what we do. And that can be embarrassing, can’t it?

Our children can read us. They know when something’s wrong. How children feel loved, nurtured, and secure will affect them and their marriage and future generations—and your marriage has a lot to do with their security. So, your marriage is your children’s business.

Your marriage is America’s business.

It’s widely accepted that marriage is the foundation of society. It’s like a pier out in the ocean that’s held up by pilings. When you start knocking out those pilings one by one, the stability of the whole structure is affected.

So the question we must ask is, how many marriages can fall apart before America will no longer be able to stand? When will it be too many? So, your marriage is America’s business.

Your marriage is God’s business.

Do you also know that family relationships are the theological key for God to communicate with us? When God wants to tell us something, He usually uses domestic references. In Ephesians 5:25 we read,

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her.”
Ephesians 5:25

If a husband doesn’t love his wife sacrificially as Christ loved the church, then that whole verse no longer makes sense. So when a marriage breaks up, the best theological school God has ever designed becomes invalid and no longer functions. Your marriage is God’s business.
