Don’t Let Sleeping Dogs Lie!

You may have heard the old adage “Let sleeping dogs lie.” But according to Scripture, this isn’t always the right course of action!
“Israel’s watchmen are blind,
they all lack knowledge;
they are all mute dogs,
they cannot bark;
they lie around and dream,
they love to sleep.”Isaiah 56:10
Isaiah’s warning reveals a big problem for God’s people. The prophet is saying that those who were meant to be on the lookout for threats against Israel were, in fact, sleeping on the job. They were like useless guard dogs – lazy, slumbering, and silent when they should have been awake, active, and sounding the alarm!
The Church in America needs to heed the same warning today. There’s so much in our current cultural climate that threatens our freedom to believe and speak about the good news of Jesus Christ.
