Getting back an Hour

February 19, 2023
/
Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called, “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
Hebrews 3:12-13

A newspaper once posed a question to its readers: If you could have back one hour of your past, which would it be? As you can imagine, there was a variety of answers. How would you answer that question? Would it be an hour of missed opportunity? Of great celebration? Perhaps a personal encounter? Or a great accomplishment? Our answers today would vary as much as the readers’ answers years ago.

Instead of spending time in the past, however, God wants us to recognize the beauty and opportunity of the present. When we fail to focus on what God is doing in our lives today, we can become hardened, dull, and insensitive. So embrace the blessings and joys of this present moment, because these present moments form the foundation for your best hours yet to come!
